Welcome Curtiss Family to Algebra I. Curtiss Middle School uses the Personalized Learning Community (PLC) school model of improvement. Academy eighth grade students are organized into two PLC teams to represent the Academy School for Glenn Hammond Curtiss........Welcome to "Team Explorers".
The Explorer Team Instructors congratulate the following Explorer Team students for achieving highest honors on the 2010 California State Test (CST). Our Curtiss Pilots worked extremely diligently all year long. As your Algebra instructor, I appreciate and recognize your efforts to improve our school community.......Well Done!!!!

We need parent, student, and community support to make the goal possible. Students make sure you submit your "New Student Survey" before school begins on September 13. Parents please show your support by providing your contact info. Click on the "Parent Support" link.
Our team photo features (from left to right) Mr. Love (Algebra I), Mr. Tanny (Resource Specialist), Ms. Felder (Department of Children Family Services Therapist), Mr. Calasinghin (History), Mrs. Matthews (English), and Mrs. Taylor (Science). The PLC model (Teaming) benefits the student, parent, and teacher as we collaborate our efforts to employ strategies that service the individual needs of each student. The Explorer Team encourages family members to visit the classrooms and investigate the different teaching styles and student engagement. My ultimate job in room B6 is to prepare our Curtiss family to master the 2011 California State Test and develop positive study habits to matriculate into high school. I thank you in advance for your trust as a parent who wants the best education for their child. As a Carson resident, Stanford/UCLA graduate, a happily married man, and father to a 5 year old boy that will be starting preschool, I understand the importance of teacher/ parent communication. Parents please read the "Classroom Information Sheet" and secure the items as listed on the "Class Materials List". Students are expected to have all materials on the first day of school as we strive to adhere to the quick academic pace of the LAUSD District 8 periodic assessments. The classroom information sheet describes classroom management, grading, testing, and homework policies. It will be sent home for your signature during the first week of instruction.
I look forward to meeting you at our first back to school night. Please email your comments, concerns or any pertinent questions:
